Samsung Corby Range Gets Two New Handsets

Seems like Samsung’s Corby (S3650) craze has really caught on, so much so that the company has just announced two new additions to the same handset now creating a range all to itself. The new Corby family devices dubbed Samsung CorbyTXT and Samsung CorbyPRO, seek to further meet the varied needs of the youth market. Designed to offer a variety of features to their younger audience the new handset will still aim at delivering the original Corby’s trademarks of bold colors, pop-style contours and a curved form factor.

“The Corby family is in-line with our ongoing strategy of developing different mobiles to match every lifestyle,” said JK Shin, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division. “The focus with the original Corby and now with the Corby family has been to offer our consumers choice: choice over the color of the handset, choice over how they stay connected and choice over the features and functionality that best suit their unique personalities and communications requirements.”

Samsung CorbyTXT (B3210)
The Samsung CorbyTXT is a message-centric mobile for heavy texters, delivering easy-to-use SMS and IM (Instant Messenger) features as well as social media uploading functionality. The CorbyTXT also offers a full QWERTY keyboard on the face of the phone giving a business like appeal as well. Quick launch buttons on the front of the handset provide fast access to key features including a music player, camera and messaging. A 3.5mm earphone jack allows owners to use their own earphones and it also comes with brightly-colored fashion jackets and changeable battery covers including black and a second with a graphic design.

Other features include -

• a 2.2-inch TFT LCD with a 176 x 144 pixel resolution
• 3G ready with HSDPA, EDGE/GPRS
• Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
• 2MP camera
• microSD card support

Samsung CorbyPRO (B5310)
Next up is the CorbyPRO, a hybrid slider which is essentially the original handset now with a full, slide out QWERTY keyboard. Features include push email services, conversational SMS and access to social networks like Facebook and MySpace.

That’s not all of course, the handset is also equipped with -

• a 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution
• 3G ready with HSDPA, EDGE/GPRS
• Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
• GPS with A-GPS support
• 3MP camera
• 3.5mm earphone socket
• FM radio
• DivX playback support
• microSD card support
  The Samsung CorbyTXT will be available in most European countries by the end of September and the CorbyPRO will be launched in Europe during November and will soon be expanded to other markets.
